Before West Five Story was a shop, it was a search. This Hazelwood necklace was our first step toward finding a gentler way to soothe my son Danek’s sensitive skin and eczema. What began as a mother’s necessity became the heartbeat of everything we create today. We don’t just sell these—we believe in them.

Hazelwood is a traditional, plant-based remedy used for centuries to help balance the body’s natural pH.
Acidity Neutralization: When worn against the skin, the raw hazelwood bark helps to neutralize excess acidity in the body. This is often a primary trigger for skin irritations, eczema flare-ups, and digestive sensitivity.
Raw & Honest: We keep our hazelwood in its raw state, with the bark intact. This ensures the natural tannins and healing properties remain potent and effective.
Hand-Threaded with Intent: Each necklace is carefully assembled in our Manitoba studio, using durable thread and a focus on safety and comfort for sensitive skin.
 
How to Use Your Hazelwood:
Wear: For the best results, the wood should be in direct contact with the skin as much as possible.
Replace: Over time, the wood will absorb acidity and the bark will begin to darken. Most customers replace their necklace every 3 to 6 months to maintain its neutralizing properties.
Care: Avoid wearing in the shower or pool, as constant soaking can cause the natural wood to wear prematurely.
